About
Carlos Silveira is a Brazilian biofuturist dedicated to developing plausible speculative technologies, integrating biological patterns, materials, and logics to solve emerging future problems. His work bridges technical and creative dimensions by hybridizing biological, electronic, and digital tools to envision a more ecocentric future through biodesign, futures thinking, and philosophy.
Driven by the ambition to replicate nature, the state-of-the-art nature of his projects emerges when these technologies become transitional artifacts, bridging the possibilities of the present with the plausibility of a future guided by biology. Rather than merely reflecting human nature, they explore new scenarios and invite us to reconsider how we design and who we might become through cultural and social investigations.
Today, Carlos Silveira works as an independent researcher, educator, head of bioart projects at the iGEM Community, and is pursuing a Master's in Design for Emergent Futures at FABLAB Barcelona, with a research focus on Biohybrid Robots.
